I am home now, and am now about to jump into high gear, starting Whore House rehearsals on Monday, going into pre-production and auditions fr NightoftheLivingDead at KAT, and my upcoming cabaret, "Naked" at Signature on the 20th of July...so I have much to prepare for...but I thought I would share these last glimpses of the beach with you. I will continue posting details about all the little silly things in our silly little lives. I have missed writing on here, and this week has reminded me of that. So details to follow about the python loose in Fairlington, the missing woman in NC, all of my show stuff, and everything else we talked about this past week. Till then, friends, xoxoxoSGS

Leaving.
We are packing up to leave The Sleepy Dog. It is very sad to me, as I don't know how an entire week has already passed. But soon we will be back in Fairlington, and on to new adventures. I know that Boo had a good time, and is already har core crashing after a fun filled week. See you guys back in Arlington.

Last sleepy night at the Sleepy Dog...
I am the last one awake tonight at The Sleepy Dog. As we spend our last night here, I can't seem to be able to let go and let the night pass into morning. I seem to want to squeeze every minute out of it that I can. So here I sit, typing to whoever reads this. Our last night at The Sleepy Dog seems melancholic. As every vacation must come to an end, this is a predictable entry into the log kept so far. We work so hard in our field that a week away from all of it seems like a Godsend. And while I look forward to my upcoming projects, from my cabaret on July 20th, to Whorehouse at Signature, to the Open House at Signature, to directing our musical, NightoftheLivingDead at KAT this fall, I look at these last hours through a microscope. I strain to see them closer. How is it that a week passes so quickly? Yet as human beings, don't we say these things all of the time? Doesn't it seem like every 20 minutes we are fixing breakfast at a certain age? (this comment is courtesy of Matt's family). And as we approach "re-entry" into normal life for all of us, Boo included, I look at these last few minutes before bed as a treasure as precious as gold. Every minute that passes between now and tomorrow evening at 6, when we leave, will be a treasure.
Goodnight from the Outer Banks...

Stormy Weather - Part 2
After yesterday's let up in the rain, we got in plenty of pool time, and were tired out by the night.

However, this morning I woke at 6AM to use the restroom, and decided to check the radar, since the rain was pouring down again, and it looked very ominous outside my bedroom door...

I pulled up Weather.com and saw this "Special Weather Statement" for my area...
Issued by The National Weather Service
Newport, NC

... SHOWERS CONTINUE TO DEVELOP OVER THE PAMLICO SOUND AND ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS...
AT 726 AM EDT... NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED SCATTERED SHOWERS FORMING OVER THE EASTERN PAMLICO SOUND. A WATERSPOUT WAS REPORTED EARLIER WITH ONE OF THE SHOWERS AND MARINERS SHOULD REMAIN ALERT FOR ADDITIONAL WATERSPOUTS.
IF A WATERSPOUT IS SPOTTED NAVIGATE AWAY FROM IT AND SEEK SAFE HARBOR.
Well, after the local weather from the night before, and being the weather geek that I am, I freaked out, woke the husband and dog and went upstairs to try to see the storm come in. I was monitoring radar, and Matt was watching the weather channel, and Buddha was just confused as to whether I was going to walk him, or give him cookie. When he determined neither was happening, he pouted on the kitchen rug. After about 20 minutes, the storm passed, and no, no waterspouts came near us.

So I made an English muffin, apologized to Matt for being a weather worry wart as always, and we went back to bed. While the rain continued on for hours more, I am happy to show you that my current view from my bedroom door looks far more promising than it did earlier.

Stormy Weather...
So yesterday at 3ish started a downpour of rain that only really let up about 10 minutes ago. It let up for a little bit this morning at about 9am, and we took advantage in the break in rain and took Buddha to the beach. The sea water has amazing effects on his skin. He has terrible grass pollen allergies that give him itchies through the spring and summer, and every year that he comes to the beach, they all magically clear up. So his beach time is more than fun and games, but also a beauty spa. :)
The clouds were looking angry, and I knew, thanks to the trusty radar on my phone, that we didn't have too long before the rains were back. The storms from the night before were apparently more violent north of us. But still too close for comfort. I woke up and read this article about several funnels, waterspouts, and tornadoes in the area last night...read more HERE.After Buddha had his ocean dip, we headed back to The Sleepy Dog. (Fittingly, the name of the place we are staying at.) He has had such a fun trip, and whether in the ocean, or the pool, he has been so happy. All of the undivided attention that he is receiving is fantastic. It is spoiling him for all of the time coming up that he will be at home alone in his baby bed as Matt and I are at Whorehouse rehearsals.
As we left, we took note of our footsteps together that our little family left behind. Images like this are things that I will treasure always.
These are the little pictures of our family of three that will remain our legacy for years to come. We will always look back on these and smile. And as I close out this blog, I see that the radar has cleared up and the sun is trying to come out. That is my cue to go outside and make the most out of the rest of our time here. Hopefully there will be sunnier and sillier photos to share with you later.
Till then, xoxoSGS/MJC/BSC

Monday Funday
In the photo above, we see the pug at lunchtime, sunning himself on the porch before we headed to the beach at 1. As the sand is too hot in the middle of the day, he opted to stay home till evening. So we started our journey...
I tried to tell Matt that the bus didn't stop here anymore...
And then we arrived...the water is wonderfully warm.
Later in the afternoon, Boo joined us, and resumed chasing ghost crabs and barking at the sea.He now lies next to me passed out, along with Matty. Who knew vacations could be so tiring? :)
Till later, xoxoxoSGS, Boo, and Matt

Buddha and the Beach
Two photos of our little beach trip mascot...the first is his waking moments this morning, the second is his morning perch on the ottoman. Needless to say, he is having a great time!
The pictures below are from his first evening here, Saturday night...He has a little color changing light that goes on his harness so he is easy to spot at night. He was chasing ghost crabs and barking at the waves, and generally having the best time ever. He loves being here soooo much. But then again, who doesn't? We are about to go to the beach for our afternoon swim as Buddha settle down for his afternoon nap. More to come later!
