BUSY BUSY BUSY

Sorry everyone! Life is a little bit crazy right now - I have not posted much because of this. I am teaching in 3 Fairfax County schools, just choreographed "High School Musical" for Rockville High School, I am doing James Thurber's "Many Moons" at Falls Church Art Space - (see below), am bar tending at Signature, working at Ticketplace (sometimes), and doing a workshop of "Parade" at Ford's Theatre this week. So a very busy man am I. And this is also audition season here in DC, so there has been plenty of that, and ongoing.
More updates will follow soon, as many things are forthcoming - including me doing a DC Fringe show for the first time...stay tuned!

Landless Theatre's High Fidelity has been "Helen Hayes Reccomended". To view details of what that means, click HERE. In short, they think it's pretty cool. Which is pretty cool indeed.
This is the closing week of our show, and Saturday night is already SOLD OUT with Friday night following close behind it. Your best bet for tickets is either Thursday or Sunday nights. So get them ASAP before they are gone! GET TICKETS HERE!

Insult to Injury

Yeah...the whole "LIVEBLOGGING" thing kind of doesn't work when you lose power. As you all know, we got a BUNCH of snow. No breaking news there. What really is getting me more nervous as the forecasts keep changing is the next storm. Like the last one, the accumulation indexes keep ramping upward. We really can't afford this kind of snowfall again so soon. (Well - I know I can't afford it! I have to actually work sometime in this month!)

"WASHINGTON - People are still digging out from the historic blizzard over the weekend that buried the region in up to 40 inches of snow. It knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of people, thousands of whom are still in the dark, and is causing school closings into the week as many neighborhoods haven't been touched by plows.

Temperatures will hit the low 30s Monday and sunshine will cause some melting, but ABC 7 Meteorologist Chris Naille says don't expect the snow to go away anytime soon.

"We're not going to get rid of it completely, not by a long shot before another system impacts us."

The area is bracing for another storm Tuesday.

Naille says two storms will merge before dumping another 10 to 20 inches of snow throughout much of the region, except for areas further south which could see a rain/snow mix.

The snow will start around 4 p.m. or 5 p.m. Tuesday and end by late Wednesday afternoon.

ABC 7 Chief Meteorologist Doug Hill says higher accumulations are possible farther north.

A Winter Storm Warning has been posted from Tuesday afternoon until Wednesday afternoon. "

Snow is now sticking to roads. About 4 inches has fallen. Maybe Five.

LIVEBLOGGING THE STORM - 12:50pm Friday

The snow began falling at about 9:30AM. It is still falling at a moderate rate. I will continue to LIVEBLOG the snow storm all weekend, as I will be snowed in alone. (Chris is at Signature in rehearsals for Sweeney Todd, and they are putting the cast up in hotels for the weekend to finish getting through tech rehearsals. Granted, I am never truly alone. I have my trusty pug as a companion, Gillian across the street, and Fred the other way across the street.
Also there is this.
I woke up with a VERY sore throat and a low grade fever. :( So I am doubting if sledding and snowball fighting is in the cards for me this weekend. Oh well. If I have to get sick, I would rather do it when I don't have to do anything else.
I have more than enough supplies, so I am ready to buckle in and weather it out. I will bring you photos and details of the storm all weekend.
Also: I am My Own Wife at Signature Theatre is cancelled tonight.

Breaking News from Arlington County

With the impending snow storm, the following guidelines should be followed: Basic weather safety involves staying off the roads, dressing in layers, having emergency supplies ready and avoiding overexertion.
Driving Once freezing rain or snow begins to fall, stay off the roads. Only travel if absolutely necessary, and if you do, wear a seat belt. Know roads conditions before you leave.
Current road conditions are available by calling 5-1-1 or visiting 511Virginia.gov. Have emergency supplies in your car. If you become stranded, you will need water, food, blankets, a radio, flashlight and extra batteries.
Stay with your car. The Virginia Department of Transportation recommends running the car engine for heat for 10 minutes and then turning off the engine for 20 minutes.
Health concerns Wear loose layers and a hat. Avoid overexertion during clean up, no matter your age or physical condition. Shoveling snow or pushing a car can bring on a heart attack or make other medical conditions worse.
Emergency heat Generators should always be run outside, in well-ventilated areas. Get to fresh air immediately if you start to feel sick, weak or dizzy. Never use a portable generator in any enclosed or partially enclosed space. Windows and doors do not provide enough ventilation. Kerosene and propane heaters can cause fires if left unsupervised. If you use one, use only the recommended fuel.
Always refuel outdoors safely away from your home. Keep an eye on your heater at all times while it is running. Shut it off before you go to bed or when you leave the house.

Swinging Santas Cancelled again.

AND - This in from Strathmore, where tonight's performance was to have played:

Strathmore - Officially cancelling Music in the Mansion - Signature Theatre's Swingin' Santas tonight due to the road conditions. We will contact ticket purchasers next week with further information. The entire Strathmore campus is closed all day.

Swinging Santas have swung for the last time apparently. Sadly. I loved those guys and singing with them. We had a great time together, and I already miss them. Maybe they will bring us back next year, if the fates allow.
Thanks to all of you who came to see us for our brief, yet extremely enjoyable run!

SNOWPOCALYPSE 2009!!!

As most of you are painfully aware, there is a very strong winter storm sweeping the East coast, and I am stuck right in the middle of it. All performances of Swinging Santas and Show Boat are cancelled today, and I am sitting in my apartment with Matt, Fred, Gillian and Chris. (And Buddha, of course). The snow is pounding down, and we are in a Blizzard Warning. We took Boo out for a walk, and he was NOT having it. He whimpered as he dissapeared into drifts much taller than him. We just put on Albert Finney's Scrooge the Musical. So we are in for a little bit as the Blizzard continues. We will venture out and take more photos a bit later. I hope wherever you are you are safe and cozy somewhere!

Gentlemen Apparently DO prefer Blondes...

Last night I went to see my friends, Bligh Voth and Weslie Woodley in their cabaret debut, "Blonde Ambish" at the Kennedy Center's Millenium Stage.
The show was fantastic, as I knew it would be, and the chemistry that the girls have is fantastic! Their blend in such songs as "Casting Call" or "I Will Never Leave You" was so good that it sounded like one voice having a duet with itself. Their tonality and phrasing is so similar, that whenever the girls sang together, it was truly wonderful. And their solo numbers were a treat as well. Bligh gets quite a bit of respect from me for singing "Making Love Alone" at the Kennedy Center. lol.
Weslie's "Girl in 14G" is quite a tour de force as well, ranging in many different musical styles.
The show was packed, and the girls really were amazing. I think that this is the beginning of a cabaret duo that we will see much more of in the future. I mean; you do the math - two gorgeous blonde gfirls who are amazingly talented and sing their faces off...book them now!















After the show was done, we dropped by what was to be a surprise birthday party for Erin Driscoll. And when I walked up the stairs, I saw this cake and did a double take...










Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Erin Driscoll and James Gardiner are engaged!!!
It became quite the happy celebration with all of their family and friends gathered around them. I am ridiculously happy for both of them and wish them all of the happiness that they truly deserve.
So yesterday was QUITE the fantastic day. Even more fantastic if you were any of the three blonde girls mentioned in this post, though.

Breaking News: Boo just got home.

I just picked the puggy wug up from the Vet. SOOOO glad he is home and that today's ordeal is over for him. He is sleeping on the couch right now, all drugged out.

An unfortunate and temporary side effect of his dental surgery is that his mouth is very dry, and his tongue is hanging out a bit on the side. I sponged it to give it moisture but it still stayed stuck out. Poor guy. I can't lie, it is kind of cute. So here are some pictures of the little one recovering and resting on his big boy couch.
