9 years...

Today is me and Matt Conner's 9 year anniversary. It is hard to believe that it has been 9 years and that I am still in love with this man the way I was from day one.
I love you, Matty.
Happy Anniversary.
Luv,
SGS

i'm still here...

Sorry I have not posted that much, but I have been really busy with Spiderwoman rehearsals, and my ass is thoroughly being kicked. Still here though, thankfully enjoying a day off to rest and regroup. This is my first total day off in three weeks. I forgot how nice it could be. Not that I have been sitting around all day, however. I took Buddha ( who has a new blog post that you can read HERE) to the park for a nice little romp, then brought him home and gave him a bath. I am currently in the "catch up" mode of trying to do laundry, dishes, etc. I am taking a breather from that as I write this.
I plan on making my March Candles tonight, and am in prep for that. I know what design I want them to be, but I am honing details in my head of how I want it to smell, proportion of color, and so on. So I will start that in a little bit.

I am very happy that Marion Cotillard won the Best Actress for La Vie En Rose, which was one of my favorite movies of the past year, and one of my favorite performances on film to this date. If you have not yet seen the film, you should rent it as soon as you get a chance.

What else? Oh yeah, I just watched 30 Days of Night, the vampire horror film that came out last fall, and I was blown away. It now sits in my top 10 favorite horror films of all time. The art direction of the film is stunning, and many of the shots look like they could be framed works of art. That's not to say that it still isn't gory. It is very gory, but not in excess. The film is a very mature horror film that actually has fantastic character development in the script, and wonderful actors as well. If you can stand some fake gore, I would strongly recommend this film. I can't stop thinking or talking about it.

Ok, that's me for right now. I will try to post a little more this coming week, but it will mainly be in the evenings.
Till then,
SGS

Image of the Week - by Chan McQuay

Ahhh...a beach throwback. This was one of the gorgeous photos that Chan McQuay snapped. I love it's vantage point.
Everyone have a great day, I'm off to rehearsal, and will hopefully chat more later!

Roy Scheider

So sad. These things always seem to happen in threes, so - we had Brad Renfro, then Heath, I guess Roy is the third.
Ugh. Another amazing talent gone. Two of my favorite movies of all time, All that Jazz and Jaws featured him.
He will be missed.

90 Day Jane

***UPDATED AS OF 2/13 1:11PM - BLOGGER HAS TAKEN DOWN 90 DAY JANE'S BLOG, AND THE MUSEUM OF HOAXES HAS REPORTED THAT THEY SUSPECT IT ALL TO BE A HOAX. ANYONE GOT ANY MORE INFO?***
Have any of you heard about his girl who has written a blog discussing her last 90 days, as she will kill herself at the end of it?
Morbid, yes.
Disturbing, yes.
A media ploy? maybe.
One thing is for certain...it is fascinating. It reminds me in a weird way of Meet John Doe.
Here she is.

Amy Winehouse Moment

Yeah, I love her. My two favorite songs of this past year have been, Tears dry on their own, and Me and Mr. Jones. Here they are. I love Amy, and hope that she fixes herself soon!

Gerald's Game

Well, finished my book that I was reading, Gerald's Game by Stephen King. Whew! That one was a doozy. Loved it, though.
Buudha read the book over my shoulder. At least until he got bored and went to sleep.
Lazy Monday here.

Rusty

I know that I have told all of you again and again of Rusty (my family dog)'s health problems. I know that I have several times asked for the power of your positive thoughts and prayer. Yet here I am again, talking to my mom tonight, he is again in bad condition.
I know that every animal has it's natural course, and that maybe his time has been more than we thought it was, but he has rebounded everytime that we thought he was going downhill.
I need your positive thoughts and prayers again this weekend, as he is not having a good weekend at all.
Please send all of the positive energy that you can muster to him. He needs it.
This means not only the world to me, but to my parents. Rusty took my place when I left for college, and he is like their 4th son.
Please pray for him
Love,
Steve

Uppity Blues Woman of the Moment: Alberta Hunter

In a new little video series, I want to showcase some of my favorite blues legends in some fantastic performance footage. Since Alberta Hunter has been in the local lime light of late, thanks to Metro Stage, I thought I'd post this wonderful little clip of the documentary about her that bears the same name as the song you hear in this video: My Castle's Rockin'.
Enjoy!

Image of the Week: Nothing Says Friday Like...

Here's a home made one of mine before it hit the oven.
There is nothing closer to heaven than this.
